Dementia & Alzheimer’s Association of St. Clair County Receives $25,000 Grant for Respite & Relief Program

The Dementia & Alzheimer’s Association of St. Clair County (DAASCC) is proud to announce they are a proud recipient of a $25,000 grant from The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Legacy Fund for Caregivers from the Southeast Community Foundation of Michigan.

“We are so thankful to be chosen by the Southeast Community Foundation of Michigan as a recipient of this grant,” said DAASCC President, Deb Johnson. “These funds will be used across St. Clair County to provide critical respite and relief program for primary caregivers of those battling dementia and Alzheimer’s. The mission of the DAASCC is to support caregivers, boost awareness to the disease, and be a resource so that these caregivers know they are not alone. As well as expanding the respite care program, the DAASCC is working to offer more educational opportunities and resources across St. Clair County by offering webinars and in-person events to the public. The association is also expanding its relationship with the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center to provide more professional educational presentations for the area that will focus on Alzheimer’s and dementia related topics. 

Life Skills Centers, Inc., a partner of the DAASCC in St. Clair County was also awarded $10,000 from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Legacy Fund for Caregivers for a program designed to benefit caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and memory, brining even more care assistance to the area.
